We will not be voting our way out of this in November 2016

Freedom doesn't have a place in the prevailing intellectual framework of this country,so it's not terribly surprising that it's not a treasured value. Most people don't even know what freedom is, much less how to maintain or live for it.

The problem is compounded by the fact that more and more people in this country are in fact voting for a living. What is in it for me if I elect you? How they live is more important than the freedom to create and control that life. They would no more act for freedom than cut their own throats. Civil disobedience is dying but Mob rule that hive mentality that rules in a panic. That is very much alive and some would say vigorous in our depraved high population cities. This is a decadent democracy, which must be the route of all democracies. The bell that rings loudly for all the third world citizens to come and feast at the death of the debauchery that was once a great Nation. Some say that last great nation before a coming dark age of ignorance and despair.

First sleep away in Mayer,Az in our new camper with some minor changes for comfort

Forgot to take any pics so just added some old pictures. The camper worked out ok we added a 1.5" tempur-pedic mattress on top of the serta mattress and it is very comfortable for sleeping. The only real problem is space not a lot of room in this camper and my wife is a little short so getting into the bed is a small problem for her. I got her 2 fold out step stools to get up there with my help. Another thing I just finished was the tabletop that came with the camper is about 30" diameter. So with space at a premium I ordered another base plate at E-bay for $8 this is the diecast thing that attaches to the pipe that holds the table up. I then went down to home depot and bought a ~ 18" dia. table top this is the round plain wood about 1" thick 18" dia that I made a lazy susan for our table in the house a few years back. I stained it a sedona red which is a nice reddish brown stain you can get at the home depot. I then used polyurethane to seal the table let it dry and attached the table in the camper. This size table is a lot easier to get around in side the camper and is easier to store too. The 30" I just stored in the garage and doubt I'll ever need it since for 2 people the 18" table is big enough. We actually camped in my brothers driveway since getting a space over the labor day weekend was just about impossible. Mayer is a little over 4,000 ft elevation so the night were cool and we both slept very well both nights. Looking forward to some more trips in the camper. FYI if your thinking about buying a truck and truck camper buy a 3/4 or 1 ton truck these small light weight campers are ok but I miss the full size truck campers I used when I was younger.

Ps. Forgot I added ~ $1,000 in new tires for the truck these are Cooper Tires E-range ie 10 ply tires and make a big change for the better in handling, ride an road noise if you need an E -range tire I highly recommend these tires from Discount Tire.

Stewie has the right idea

I know it is the fork that make people fat although the spoon for dessert sure doesn't help the old waistline.

Casino or how I support our Native American neighbors while waiting for WW III

We spent this last weekend at a friends timeshare in Sedona,Az. Fantastic weather and beautiful scenery but then we went to two locale Indian Casinos in Northern Arizona. One of them my wife and I have done ok before but this weekend I think they were both gunning for us. Really feels like what is going on today in the stock markets. People losing $ money all over the world with bad banking and financial decisions coming home to roost. I wonder how this is going to play out over the next couple of months? Will they pull another rabbit out of the hat or will years of bad financial planning by the banks and our Governments lead to our economic downfall and ultimately to another World War.  These bad economic times seem to always end in war maybe not but it sure is starting to feel like the late 1930's . Just my 2 cents.

Palomino SS-550 softside truck camper

Well the wife an I have finally pulled the trigger and bought a new RV a truck camper my third over the last 35 years or so. We have a 2003 25ft Nomad travel trailer but it is really to much RV for both of us. The hook-up and towing length would have been fine 20 years ago or so but getting to old and with my medical problems it just too difficult. So next week we pick up our new 2015 Palomino SS-550 camper. It will be cozy, code word for small but I think we can make it do.  It has electric lift for the roof and a AC that is being installed that is why we wait till next week. It has a 3- way fridge and 2 burner stove no oven but we have a small microwave that will fit an a outside shower + hot water. The fresh water tank only holds 16 gallons so not a lot to waste. Queen size bed on the over cab and a dinette that makes into a single so sleeps 3 . It is about the size of one I used back in the 1980's so the two of us can make do. Looking forward to going to some campgrounds and stuff we did when the kids were younger. Wish I had more pictures of those times but I don't think we ever took any, will take some this time. Its nice having a camera on your phone. The real excitement is going camping with our grandchild. Hope the truck gets descent gas mileage with the Camper hoping for 14 mpg on the freeways but will see.

Reading other blogs to much

Was looking at this chart by Dr Jerry Pournelle the author of many fine SF novels many with Larry Niven. Check out "Lucifer Hammer" a great book from the early 1980's.  The chart seems right but it also feels like a lose > lose type situation. I guess I'm trying to say that it doesn't seem to fit the real world views and beliefs of a lot of folks, myself included. I mean there is a need for some limited amount of Government at 3 to 4 levels ie City,County,State,National to protect an take care of human needs but it has always been the psychopaths and sociopaths who get in the way an smother the freedom loving souls who exist in every society. Yes people are the problem and they have different ideas about how to get from point A to point B. How to find harmony in that situation is the problem because almost all politicians want to keep their power an grow it. It is in their genes a personality trait if you will. Some are very focused on becoming supreme leader or the biggest fish in their pond and a few very evil types don't care how they get there. So I guess in one way the chart above does show a end result but it is not the big picture on what is really happening or how so many different governments come into existence. I also don't think that Socialist and Communist are just dangerous but good ? I believe that Fascist and Socialist are the same an just a different point of view, which is always dangerous and never good. A strong heavy handed government is never good and as always everything in moderation may be the answer but that never seems to remain static. My 2 cents.
